Ric Sorenson Rooster, Jack, Sierra

Ric is one of the nicest guys on the planet, and a crazy avid fisherman..

Ric said they saw huge roosters up to 70 lbs, but they just werent hungry today...He thinks they were only interested in spawning.  If thats true the next few days those giant fish should be ready to eat!

Quick fishing report May 24th

Inshore fishing

It has been super with lots of big roosters, yellowtail, amberjack, jack cravellle, and sierra mackerel. On both fly and spin... Just lots of nice big fish...if you want big roosterfish, now is the time to come on down. I love May and June, and I am full bore rooster fever right now...Ya Baby! Nothing like big roosters.

Offshore fishing

Lots of striped marlin around right now...Problem is they are being picky bastards... Anything over 30# fluro and they are refusing it...And refusing most of the time or just sinking out of view. Frustrating on light tackle.. Very difficult on the fly... Small dorado around under 10 lbs, most we saw I consider bait sized fish...

Tight Lines,
Grant

Joe lawson testimonial

Grant,

Just wanted to let you know the fishing trip on Wednesday was awesome. I didn't know what to expect for my fist time, but it was better than expected. Arturo and Jacob were great as guides. They were very helpful and fun to fish with. We had many opportunities at roosters and more than I can count with Sierras. Your services come highly recommended in my book and I look forward to fishing with you in the future.

Thanks again. The fishing was the highlight of the whole trip

Fishing update

Inshore:

The inshore fishing has been very good.  We are catching big roosterfish, both on the fly and light tackle.  To catch the big roosterfish, its a way away though and only on full day trips...We are catching roosters closer on 5 hr trips, just not as big..  The sierra mackerel and jack cravelle fishing has been very good for both the fly and light tackle.. Some really big jacks have been aggressive and the are true powerhouses to catch...The sierra mackerel are a mixed bunch size wise and we are catching 5 to 10 lb fish... Sierras are super strong and fast fish that taste great.  i think they are the most undervalued fish in Baja.  Great fun on light spin and fly with lots of lighting quick action.
Offshore:

The striped marlin fishing is so-so close to Cabo and if you are willing to drive 50 miles away, you can get into some good action on most days..  On full day trips, we fish 30 to 35 miles radius from Cabo...Our fishing grounds include Gordo banks to Golden Gate banks on the Pacific, but when we go to say Finger Banks or Los Frailes, we have to charge a bit extra for gas..

Not many dorado around, but a few strays here and there.  Tuna is kind of slow... Offshore fishing for tuna and dorado will start to pick up in June and go full swing come July when the warmer water moves our way.

Tight Lines,
Grant

Ken Kaiplamen and Ted Reynolds. Nice big roosters, way to go guys!
